Welcome from the Headteachers
Welcome to Woodlands Infant and Nursery School website. We are a friendly and inclusive infant school at the heart of the local community. We work together with Birchwood Junior School and The Lancaster School with whom we share our Executive Headteacher. This website will give you a taster of the school as well as providing updated information for both children and parents/carers.
Children and families are at the heart of our school, which is seen in our nurturing environment that supports individual needs and enables all children to develop a thirst for lifelong learning.
Our enthusiastic, caring and committed staff deliver a creative curriculum through a wide range of practical experiences that motivate children and develop a passion with them for life long learning and equip them with the skills they need for the future.
We hope you take the time to see for yourself what Woodlands has to offer and be pleased with the high levels of care and quality education that we endeavour to provide for all children in our care. Please contact the school on 01522 683557 to arrange a time to look round.
Tracey Bowman - Executive Headteacher
Joanne Bingwa - Deputy Headteacher
The pupils at Woodlands Nursery and Infant School enjoy rich and varied learning experiences. We follow the National Curriculum for Years 1 and 2. The Children in Nursery and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
At the heart of our curriculum are the key skills of English (as a spoken language, read and written) and Mathematics. We teach most of our other subjects (where practical) through themed topic and project work, which teachers plan purposefully to link subjects together, thus helping to join up children's learning.
If you are worried about any child, whether they are part of our school "family" or not, we urge you to come and talk to us.
All of our staff are trained to handle child protection issues and have the safeguarding knowledge about what to do when they are aware of disclosures about children. So which ever member of the team you feel comfortable approaching you can be sure they will handle your concern with discretion.
