Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child . . .

We invite you to come and have a look around Woodlands Infant and Nursery School. We are a caring school who want all of our children to feel like they are part of the Woodlands family. All children when they start with us make a clay bird that sits in the tree nestled in our school entrance this stays with us during their Woodlands journey and then ‘flies on’ with them when they leave in Year 2.

Although taster days and new starter visits are available we believe that, first of all, a personal tour with the Head Teacher or a member of the Leadership Team will allow you to discover what we do and ask questions relevant to your child and family. Once you have made up your mind, if you wish to become part of our school family, you will need to follow the admissions system.

Starting in our Nursery

The government gives each child 15 universal child care hours free from the term after their third birthday. There are several options for how these hour can be used.

End flexi:

We can not guarantee all sessions but will do our best to accommodate children and parents where possible.

Applying to start school in Reception for 2019

Applications to start school in September 2019 can be made online from 14 November 2018 until the closing date, 15 January at 12 noon.

A link will appear here shortly for you to apply online. You can also apply by telephoning Lincolnshire County Council Customer Service Centre on 01522 782030. Alternatively, you can request a paper application (on the same number).

Becoming a member of Woodlands

Most of our pupils begin their time with us during their Nursery but some start in Reception and we support families whichever way works for them. Reception places are allocated via the local authority and ALL pupils must apply, even if they are already attending school. Applications are made from November each year with decisions made in the Spring. We can advise and help with this, the easiest way is on line.

Joining part way through the year

Some families join the school at other times and in other year groups, for example when families relocate. This can be done by applying through admissions or at the school office.

Photography permission information

At Woodlands, we think that it is important to use photographs and videos of our pupils enjoying the varied activities of school life to share and promote the successes of the children in our school.

We use photographs and videos in our internal publicity materials such as school brochures and booklets, on our corridors and classroom displays, for staff training and assessment, on our website, and Twitter account. From time to time, articles and photographs of special events will appear in newspapers.

To do all we can to ensure all photographs and videos of our pupils are used correctly we undertake to:

  • Obtain your permission each year to use photographs and videos of children, including newspaper publications
  • Only use photographs and videos for the purpose stated above
  • Store all electronic images securely
  • Ask that you follow our policy when you take photographs or videos of your child at school events, by making your presence known to the Headteacher and not using them on your own personal social networking sites.

We have a responsible approach to the use of photographs and videos and do hope that you are able to support us in publicising the many successes that the children have throughout their journey at Woodlands, doing so by improving communication with parents and the wider community.
